ESG Code of Conduct for Tencent’s suppliers
Labour rights protection
- Provide employees with a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, violence, coercion, or other inhumane behaviors. Forced labor and child labor of any kind is prohibited.
- Protect the rights and interests of employees (including permanent employees, consultants, contractors, and part-time and temporary workers), including statutory wages, benefits, and working hours. Respect employees’ participation in labor union activities in accordance with local laws and regulations.
- Promote to build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment for employees and eliminate workplace discrimination and harassment.
Occupational health and safety
- Create a safe and healthy work environment for employees, and continuously identify, assess, and control risks that may harm their health and safety.
- Develop procedures for the prevention, management, tracking, and reporting of work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Identify and evaluate potential emergencies and develop contingency plans for such emergencies including but not limited to fire and natural disasters.
Environmental protection
- Obtain necessary environmental permits or other licences, take corresponding environmental protection measures, and follow disclosure requirements.
- Improve the utilization efficiency of energy and natural resources, save electricity, reduce water consumption, and encourage the use of green or clean energy.
- Practise the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle ), reduce the impact of wastewater, exhaust gases, and solid waste on the environment, and strictly follow relevant regulations on pollution treatment and emissions.
- Take measures to reduce GHG emissions, encourage GHG accounting, and set carbon emission reduction targets.
- Use natural resources in a responsible and efficient manner and encourage biodiversity conservation.
Business ethics
- Adhere to integrity standards, and prohibit any form of bribery, corruption, extortion, and embezzlement.
- Prohibit unfair competition and comply with all applicable laws and regulations on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and sanctions.
- Respect intellectual property rights, and transfer technology, experience, knowledge, or information in a manner that protects intellectual property rights.
- Legally protect the privacy of all personnel involved in business, including the information of consumers, customers, employees, and suppliers.
- Adhere to the principles of integrity, non-discrimination, and protection of the physical and mental health of children and vulnerable groups when providing text, images, audio and video (including advertisements), so as to protect consumers’ rights and interests. Prevent content that violate laws and regulations or contain violence, abuse, and exploitation.
- Complete the declaration of conflicts of interest in a timely and truthful manner in accordance with Tencent’s requirements before engaging collaborations. Suppliers involved in behaviors including concealment, false reporting, and affiliation will be blacklisted and never be engaged in collaborations.
