The Tencent Charity Foundation was founded in June 2007. It represents Tencent’s commitment to supporting charities through the donation of a portion of yearly profits.
To encourage its users to take part in doing good, the foundation created an online public fundraising platform, the first of its kind in China, leveraging Tencent’s Internet capabilities to provide the public with the ability to participate in charitable endeavors at anytime, anywhere. The platform has been made available to eligible charitable organizations free of charge.
The platform hosts more than 10,000 active charitable organizations and supports more than 60,000 charitable projects as of the end of 2019.
The Foundation has also applied its expertise to a range of external charitable projects such as WeCounty for rural development, and the Tencent Three-Dimensional Disaster Relief Program, in response to recent natural disasters in China.
